Where we're at
An honest look at what's built, how it's landing, and what still stands between us and launch.
The build so far
The product is a lot further along than the quiet might suggest. The app itself is around 90% built. It isn't live yet, but the core is done and working in testing:
- Browse live shifts nearby and accept the ones that fit
- Weekly pay, with cash-out when it's needed
- Verification, right-to-work checks and quick in-app training
- Venue tools to post shifts and approve who turns up
- Ratings and reliability scores on both sides
What's left is mostly the real-money plumbing, switching on live payments, plus the polish that only real shifts will surface.
How it's landing
The early response has been genuinely encouraging. People get it straight away. Workers want control over their week and a fair, reliable deal, not cash-in-hand with no protections. Venues are tired of the agency runaround, and of the risk and no-shows that come with off-the-books cover. We've had a steady stream of waitlist sign-ups and some brilliant conversations with operators around the city. It's the kind of reaction that tells you the problem is real.
Why it's been quiet
We'd rather be open about what's going on in the background than go radio silent. The last stretch has gone on the parts of building a staffing company that never make good posts, the legal and compliance groundwork:
- Getting the employment model right
- Mapping out payroll and right-to-work checks
- Making sure every single shift will be properly above board
That matters far more than a posting schedule, so it came first. With this new updates section, we can give a much clearer picture of how things are progressing as we go.
What's next
- Locking in our key vendors: payroll and compliance, right-to-work verification, and insurance
- Proper industry research, sitting down with Liverpool venues and workers to pressure-test how we've built it
- Building up a pool of local workers ready for day one
- Getting the first city-centre venues signed up to launch with
When we launch
The goal is Liverpool city centre this autumn. To be straight with you, that's the ambition, not a promise. A few real hurdles stand between us and a proper launch, the biggest being enough sign-ups on both sides, venues posting shifts and workers ready to take them, so the marketplace works from night one.
